Material & Care
At Asterodea, we take pride in our jewelry using high-quality materials to ensure both beauty and durability. Our collection features pieces made from:
-
Silver-Plated Zamak: Zamak is an alloy composed of zinc, aluminum, magnesium, and copper. We enhance its appearance and longevity by applying a layer of silver plating.
-
24K Gold-Plated Zamak: This involves coating the Zamak alloy with a layer of 24-karat gold, providing a luxurious finish.
-
Stainless Steel: Stainless steel is known for its strength and resistance to corrosion.
Water Resistance
Our stainless steel jewelry is waterproof and resistant to everyday moisture, making it suitable for regular wear. However, pieces that are silver-plated or 24K gold-plated Zamak are not waterproof. Exposure to water, including swimming, bathing, and excessive sweating, can gradually wear down the plating, leading to tarnishing or fading. To maintain the beauty and longevity of your plated jewelry, we recommend removing it before any contact with water.
Care Instructions
Proper care ensures your jewelry maintains its shine and lasts longer.
-
Cleaning: Wipe your jewelry with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove natural oils and dirt. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and warm water, then rinse and pat dry immediately with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, antibacterial soaps, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the plating.
-
Storage: Keep your jewelry in a dry place, ideally in a soft pouch or individual compartment in a jewelry box. This helps prevent scratches and reduces exposure to air, which can cause oxidation over time.
-
Avoid Contact with Chemicals: Perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, and cleaning products can react with the metal and affect the finish. It’s best to put on your jewelry after applying any skincare or hair products.
Adjustable Pieces
Some of our designs feature adjustable elements for a comfortable, customizable fit.
- For Rings: Adjust by gently squeezing or expanding the band with your fingers. Apply even pressure to avoid bending the metal too frequently.
- For Cuffs and Bracelet: Before adjusting, check the product details to ensure your bracelet is designed to be adjustable. If it is not adjustable, avoid bending or forcing it, as this may cause damage.
To maintain the integrity of adjustable pieces, avoid excessive bending or repeated adjustments, as this can weaken the material over time.
Following these simple care steps will help your jewelry retain its beauty and quality for years to come.
